Brazilian Butt Lift, also known as BBL, Buttock Augmentation, or Gluteal Augmentation, helps improve the buttocks’ contour, size, and shape. This cosmetic surgery uses liposuction to remove fat from the lower abdomen, back, sides, or outer thighs. Afterwards, the fat is processed and re-injected into the buttocks. Throughout different fat transfer techniques, plastic surgeons use the Ultrasound-Guided Brazilian Butt Lift technique. This technique is safer and more precise to help reduce the risks of complications.
The Brazilian butt lift procedures begin with liposuction, a body contouring cosmetic surgery that utilizes vacuum suction to remove excess body fat.
Before the surgeon performs surgery, the targeted body areas will be numbed using diluted local anesthesia composed of lidocaine and epinephrine to reduce bleeding and trauma. In addition, the tumescent solution helps to loosen up the excess fat.
Liposuction is performed through small incisions using a cannula. Next, the excess body fat is removed by placing the cannula under the skin and moving in a back-and-forth motion. The collected fat is then processed for the fat grafting for the Brazilian butt lift procedure.
Enhanced buttocks shape and volume
Brazilian butt lifts require appropriate patient selection, as with all other plastic surgery procedures.
Generally, a suitable candidate is a patient with realistic expectations about the surgery, recovery, and results. The patient should be around 18-65, have no other medical conditions, no contraindications for the procedure, have a stable weight, have a healthy lifestyle, and be a nonsmoker.
For a Brazilian Butt Lift surgery to be successful, the patient must also have enough excess fat stores in their donor areas to acheive great results. Another must is a good skin tone since this procedure only aims to add volume and not correct loose skin issues. Therefore, an initial Brazilian butt lift consultation is highly recommended to determine if you are a candidate.
The results of Brazilian butt lifts are visible immediately post-surgery. However, it may take up to six months to get a good idea of its final look, as it takes a while for the injected fat to settle and for the residual swelling to disappear. It is important to note that patients may lose volume during the healing period. Anywhere between 20-30% of grafted fat will eventually be absorbed by the body.
Minimizing the time patients sit or put pressure directly onto their buttocks is imperative to preserve the fat transfer. Another important reminder is that as the patient gain or loses weight, results may change as the transferred fat can grow or shrink just as any other fat in the body; it is advisable to maintain a stable weight over time.
A butt lift is also a form of buttock enhancement. However, a butt lift is a more complex procedure as this surgery treats the sagging and loose skin on the buttocks. It requires extensive incisions on strategic places in the buttock region to remove excess sagging skin. A traditional butt lift will not augment the size of the butt as it is not intended to add volume, but it offers to improve a dimpled, irregular skin surface.
The Brazilian butt lift costs in Miami range from $3,800 to $10,000. The bbl cost is determined by several factors such as surgeon’s fee, facilities fees, etc.
Unfortunately, most health insurance plans do not cover Brazilian Butt Lift procedures. But at Professional Plastic Surgery, we offer financing plans and in-house layaway. These financial plans allow patients to put a deposit down and pay off the rest of the amount in a 12-month layaway plan. Other payment options include loaning through United Medical Credit which offers loans for cosmetic surgeries with a monthly payment plan and competitive interest rates. Alphaeon credit, on the other hand, provides a more flexible form of monthly payment plan tailored to the client’s paying capacity.
When choosing a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgery center, you must consider multiple factors like surgeons’ experience, education, specialized training, and what is included in your surgery. At Professional Plastic Surgery, our goal is to ensure that our patients are comfortable throughout the process. We have been practicing cosmetic surgery for over twenty years. Our cosmetic and plastic surgeons have extensive training. Our BBL package includes a BBL pillow and compression garment.
The whole BBL procedure may take 2 to 4 hours. The total duration of the procedure is divided into the administration of anesthesia, the two-part fat grafting technique, and postoperative observation.
Although the Brazilian butt lift is an outpatient procedure, it utilizes general anesthesia.
Since anesthesia will be given during the procedure, the patient will typically feel no pain. But after the surgery, mild to moderate pain is expected.
The result of Brazilian butt lift surgery is estimated to last for up to 5-8 years, depending on the patient’s weight fluctuations after the procedure.
Since only 60-80% of the gluteal fat grafting will remain postop, some patients may want an additional BBL to add more volume until the desired result is achieved.
BBLs only aim to augment the size and shape of the buttocks from the inside. If the patient has concerns about loose and saggy skin over it, a skin tightening procedure like butt lifts may be done together with the BBL.
The traditional butt augmentation is synonymous with the previously described butt lift, which only targets the excess skin and is not intended to add volume to the buttock region.
BBL utilizes a fine cannula, a thin hollow tube, to dislodge and suck the fat cells from the donor sites and to inject them into the buttocks. Because only small inconspicuous incisions are made, scarring is negligible with this procedure.
Working out and weight loss will diminish the volume after BBL to a certain degree. The extracted fat injected in the buttocks is composed of viable cells that could grow and shrink over time, just like the other fat cells in different body parts. We recommend privileging weight lifting to cardio.
